Fiona Clark: Unafraid

When Fiona Clark, a young queer photographer exhibits her photography of the LGBTQI+ community in 1975, she and her friends face the systemic backlash of an oppressive New Zealand society. Unafraid, Fiona battles the patriarchy, and we discover how her documentation and contribution to the community has helped transform New Zealand society.

Fiona Clark: Unafraid is directed by Lula Cucchiara, and produced by Matt Noonan, Siobhan Price and Cucchiara.

The film showcased at 2020 Cannes Docs-in-Progress, where Cucchiara was described by Marché du Film, Cannes Film Festival as “equally adept at exploring challenging issues and lighthearted content; her work has the power to move, influence and entertain”. Fiona Clark: Unafraid had its world premiere at the 2021 Whānau Mārama New Zealand International Film Festival and has since screened at the 2022 In the Shade Film Festival and 2022 Inside Out 2SLGBTQ+ Film Festival Toronto.
