What is NZ Film On Demand??
NZ Film On Demand is a video-on-demand service from the New Zealand Film Commission (NZFC) which enables you to watch New Zealand films.
- You can watch it on a laptop or computer via the website.
- Or on your iOS device via the NZ Films app
- Or to your Android device via the Android app
(Note the app only enables you to mirror your movie for some brands of televisions.)
Why do I need to pay?
Your support helps keep New Zealand movies accessible to the public. Unlike subscription services like Netflix, NZFilm On Demand operates on a pay-per-view basis, allowing you to rent films individually and support our filmmakers.
How long is the Rental Period?
Films are rented for seven days, but will expire 48 hours after viewing is initiated. Viewing is initiated when you press play, regardless of whether you watch the film entirely or in part. The film will remain available for repeat viewings within the 48 hour period.
How do I begin?

To rent or buy films, all you need is a valid major credit card (VISA, MasterCard, Amex, Diners or Discover).
Are my Credit Card details secure?
We use a third party secure payment partner, Stripe who are committed to protecting your privacy whenever you buy goods or services from a merchant who uses Stripe. Stripe is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1, the most stringent level of certification. Stripe’s privacy policy is here.
