Red, White & Brass
“Red, White and Brass is probably the most tears-on-your-cheeks, feel-good film you are going to see this year.” - Graeme Tuckett, Stuff.
After a 20 week theatrical run in NZ, Red, White & Brass has recently released theatrically in Australia and has an ANZ combined box office of over $2 million.
Directed and written by Damon Fepulea’i, with co-writer and co-producer Halaifonua (Nua) Finau. Fepulea’i and Finau received the Special Jury Recognition at the 2023 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival for Red, White & Brass. In 2023, the film also screened at the Hawai’i International Film Festival Spring Showcase, Sydney Film Festival and IFI Family Film Festival - Dublin.
The film follows Maka, a Tongan superfan, will do whatever it takes to get tickets to the Tonga vs France Rugby World Cup game – even if it means promising to deliver a brass band for the pre-match entertainment. Only problem is, the band doesn’t exist and Maka has four weeks to make one. Inspired by a true story.
